Reflection

I have always wondered on my own why are there so many people that does not last in the early childhood sector. When I ask my friends if they are going to pursue early education or even be an early educator after graduation, most of them give me the answer no. They said  that they are no longer interested in it. They mentioned how it was fun at first but as time passes by, they do not find it that interesting and it is very draining.

It got me thinking if these reasons are the same as to why some early educators leave the industry. Do they get bored too and feel like there is no more passion in doing the things that they were doing? Or because just like everyone else, they got tired too? They feel burnout? From there, i thought that burnout was a really interesting topic to venture in. After discussions with my classmates, we agree that there might be a lot of contributing factors to burnout including personal reasons like family matters. Thus, we wanted to know more about it from the credible source itself.

When we conducted our interview with the principal, I noticed that she did not really mention anything about burnout. She kept repeating things about the culture and relationship of teachers in her centre.  As i noticed that, i realised that maybe burnout might not be a big of an issue after all. However, the environment where one works in is the one that will determine whether an educator would want to leave or stay.
